Official: Chidiebere Nwakali ends four-year stay at Manchester City with move to Poland

By Daily Sports on September 1, 2018

Polish second division club Raków Częstochowa have announced the signing of Nigerian midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali from Manchester City on a permanent deal.

Nwakali, 21, had sought a permanent move away from the Etihad Stadium after five loan spells in five countries at Atlético Malagueño, Girona FC, Start, Sogndal and Aberdeen.

And despite links with clubs in the Dutch and Belgian top-flights, Nwakali has joined Raków Częstochowa in Poland’s I liga on an initial two-year deal with an option for a third.

Nwakali was part of the Nigeria under-17 side that won the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup and was snapped up by City alongside Kelechi Iheanacho, who made the breakthrough to City’s first team before moving on to Leicester City.

And while Kelechi remains a Premier League player, Nwakali will continue his career at the 3,424-seat Municipal Football Stadium Raków in Częstochowa, Poland.

Nwakali thanked City, who brought him to Europe, in an Instagram post and is looking forward to a new challenge. (Mcfcwatch.com)
