Genk Boss: Why Liverpool Should Sign Onuachu

By Daily Sports on September 9, 2021

Nigeria international striker Paul Onuachu has been offered to English Premier League giants Liverpool FC.

The towering centre forward’s current employers at KRC Genk have talked up a switch to the Reds, who opted against bolstering his attacking department during the recent summer transfer window.

That situation could change in January 2022 with Liverpool attackers Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah set to participate at the 2022 AFCON finals for Senegal and Egypt respectively.

Genk technical director Dimitri de Conde feels that Onuachu should be an option that the Reds should explore ahead of the winter transfer window.

“Did you see Liverpool against Chelsea? Liverpool have the best strikers, but none with the same profile as Onuachu,” De Conde told Het Belang van Limburg.

“He would have scored against 10 men. I’m not saying that Paul would play 90 minutes every week in Liverpool, but a club like that could really use him.”

Onuachu enjoyed a successful 2020/21 season which saw him score 33 goals in 38 league games and he also amassed 35 strikes across all competitions in the current campaign.

Onuachu, who is the reigning Belgian Pro League Player of the Season, was constantly linked with English Premier League clubs West Ham United, Arsenal FC, Watford, and French giants Lyon.

The current Belgian Pro League Golden Boot holder’s suitors have reportedly been put off by his €30million asking price and his contract with Genk will expire at the end of June 2024. (African Football)
