Abuja Continental partners boxing tourney for sports dev

The partnership between Nigeria’s renowned monthly boxing tournament, Boxing and MMA Hall of Fame, and Abuja Continental has been officially announced, marking a significant moment for sports development and youth empowerment in the country.

Initiated by sports enthusiast, philanthropist, and Minister of Finance Wale Edun, Boxing and MMA Hall of Fame has been instrumental in the training and nurturing of top-level boxers in Nigeria. The collaboration with Continental Hotel will see the hotel becoming the official host venue for the National Boxing and MMA Amateur Championship.

The upcoming Abuja Championship which is scheduled for April 27, will kick off a series of national championships leading up to the grand finale later in the year. The competition will feature boxers and MMA fighters from various states including Kwara, Kogi, Kaduna, Kebbi, Niger, Nasarawa, Plateau, Benue, and FCT, Abuja. The grand finale aims to crown the first set of national amateur champions in the country.

According to Karl Hala, Group General Manager of Continental Hotel Group, “We have always been advocates for supporting youth and sports development. The success of the Nigerian team at the African Games in Ghana further reinforced our commitment to this cause.

“We are excited to partner with Boxing and MMA Hall of Fame and look forward to a fruitful collaboration, making Abuja the national center for Boxing and MMA Amateur Championship.”

General Secretary of Boxing and MMA Hall of Fame, Kehinde Soyanwo, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership.

“This collaboration comes at a historic moment for us. Following our successful National Open Amateur Mixed Martial Arts tournament, our team emerged victorious at the African Games, showcasing Nigeria’s strength in the sport. With the support of Abuja Continental Hotel, we are setting a new standard for national Amateur Boxing and MMA sports, aiming to make Nigeria proud on the world stage,” Soyanwo said.

Moreover, Javier Sanchez, General Manager of Abuja Continental, added, “We are delighted to align with Boxing and MMA Hall of Fame on this noble mission to promote sports excellence and youth empowerment. Through this collaboration, Abuja Continental reaffirms its commitment to providing a first-class venue and support for aspiring athletes, paving the way for future sports achievements in
