Coach Lasisi Mayowa has send his thanks to those who have come to his aid with donations as he has gotten discharged from the University College Hospital in Ibadan on Thursday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigerian boxing community, led by the Nigeria Boxing Board of Control General Secretary, Remi Aboderin, along with renowned figures such as national team boxing coach Tony Konyegwachie and world heavyweight contender Efe Apochi, stepped forward to bolster support for the coach affectionately known as coach Mayor.

This generous gesture saw the collective donation surge to an impressive N627,000, significantly aiding in the medical treatment of coach Mayowa, who has been battling a severe kidney ailment.

For the first time since he fell sick, the boxing trainer was able to give our correspondent an update on his condition saying, “I am feeling better now, and I got discharged today (Thursday).

“I thank everyone who has helped me, those in the NBBofC and those in the APB group chat, I want to say thank you to those anonymous as well. God will bless you all.”

The outpouring of support from these esteemed members of the boxing fraternity underscores the deep camaraderie and respect within the community.

coach Mayowa’s wife, Funmilayo, expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming support received thus far.
