Samuel Mathias says that El Kanemi Warriors are staying focused despite the position they occupy in the Nigeria topflight.
The Desert Warriors, who finish fourth in the 2011/12 campaign, currently sit second in the Nigeria Professional Football League table after 21 games.
"It is too early to start getting carried away. Second is a very good position, and hopefully at the end, we will have to finish at a good spot than we did five years ago," Mathias told Goal.
"We can't afford to think about the future too much at this stage, though. There are many games ahead of us.
Mathias was on target for his side when they defeated Rivers United 2-1 at the El Kanemi Sports Complex. He increased his goal tally to 11 in as many matches as possible.
The former Wikki Tourists ace said that he isn't after the topscorer award but the progress of his team.
"Football is a team sport. It's not all about individuals but the well being of many people. I won't allow personal target derail me," he added.
