Abia Warriors Push Aside Delta Force to Taste Victory

By Obaseki Anthony in Asaba on September 14, 2019

Abia Warriors have picked up their first points of the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa Pre-Season Tourney, winning 1-0 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, on Friday morning.

Both sides went into the game in need of the three points at stake.

Exciting winger Amos Ogbuagu was the man of the match as he capped a beautiful display with a fine individual goal.

Having won their first game against MFM FC of Lagos, Delta Force were the team to beat against Abia Warriors and instantly they swung into action as Yemi Jacob came close to scoring the opener after some beautiful individual play when he skillfully outclassed Ozioma Goodluck before he shot wide.

Atilola Tunde should had easily given Abia Warriors the lead when Odeh James set up the striker for an easy tap-in but Tunde was caught up by Delta Force defenders who frantically cleared to safety.

After making series of runs Amos Ogbuagu produced a moment of magic when he took a long ball from Tambe Charles as he waltzed his way past series of Delta Force defenders before releasing an inswinger which ended at the back of Ani Henry’s net.

Delta Force introduced Bassey Obinna and he should had equalised when Moshood Kasali did well to set him up but Tambe Charles produced a fine save as Abia Warriors secured their first win at the tournament.
