Iwobi in line for debut as Bassey returns

Fulham Manager Marco Silva has confirmed that Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is in contention to make his Fulham debut when his side welcome Luton Town on matchday five of the Premier League at Craven Cottage on Saturday (today).

Iwobi joined the Cottagers on the final day of the just concluded transfer window from Everton in a deal worth £22m.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash with the Hatters, Silva revealed that the 27-year-old will definitely be involved in some capacity.

Iwobi had been carrying a knock at Everton but has been declared fit for the game.

“Iwobi is going to be involved in the squad list,” Silva said.

“He came injured when he signed with us, but since the start of this week he’s been involved in the squad list.”

Calvin Bassey is also expected to play a part in the game after serving a one match suspension.

The 22-year-old defender was sent off for a second caution after he blocked Eddie Nketiah at a counter-attack during Fulham’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at the Emirates.

Bassey has earlier received a yellow card by referee Paul Tierney after being adjudged for taking too long at a goal-kick.

Silva also added that defender Tosin Adarabioyo will be out of action for the next six or seven weeks due to an injury.Adarabioyo’s proposed move to French Ligue 1 club Monaco fell through on deadline day because Fulham could not sign a replacement at short notice. He has played just one minute of Premier League football in the new season.
