EPL: Ronaldo’s unceremonious exit from Man Utd, a shame – Bailly

By Daily Sports Nigeria on January 4, 2024

A former Manchester United defender, Eric Bailly, has faulted how Cristiano Ronaldo’s time at Old Trafford ended.

Bailly described Ronaldo’s exit as a ‘shame’, noting that the Portugal captain was the best player in the world and could have contributed to the team.

Speaking to The Athletic, he stated that Ronaldo deserved to feel important at Manchester United.

Man United had terminated Ronaldo’s contract after he criticized manager Erik ten Hag, some of the Red Devils stars and the club during an interview with Piers Morgan over a year ago.

“Cristiano Ronaldo returned, the legend coming back. He was the best player in the world for me,” Bailly said.

“Even when he returned, Cristiano contributed a lot to the club and a player like Cristiano deserves to feel important.

“It’s a shame he left in the circumstances he did.”
