Juve scouts monitoring Boniface

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 8, 2024

Nigerian striker Victor Boniface is increasingly looking likely to leave runaway Bundesliga leaders, Bayer Leverkusen, at the end of the season as the Nigerian continues to be linked with a host of top European clubs, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to Forza Juve, former Serie A champions Juventus are monitoring the Super Eagles striker and may attempt to sign him if Dusan Vlahovic exits in the summer.

“Juventus are monitoring Bayer Leverkusen’s striker Victor Boniface (23),” the Italian publication wrote on X.

”Giuntoli appreciates him and Juve’s scouts have watched him during the last months. No offers or talks yet.

”He could become a target if an important offer arrives for Vlahović in the summer.”

Boniface has enjoyed a run of impressive form since his transfer to German Bundesliga side from Belgian club Royale Union.

The 23-year-old had a superb start to life in the first half of the campaign, registering 16 goals and nine assists in 23 appearances, which saw him claim the Rookie of The Month award for four consecutive months.

His form was, however, halted by an injury he sustained in December, forcing him to miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier in the year.

After three months of being on the sidelines, Boniface recently returned to action after coming on as a second half substitute in their German Cup semi-finals 4-0 win over Düsseldorf on Wednesday.

Boniface has been linked with a transfer to Arsenal, Real Madrid, Chelsea and Napoli, who want him as a replacement for compatriot, Victor Osimhen.

Meanwhile, Boniface still has four years on his current contract and is expected to remain at Bayer Leverkusen with the Germans not under pressure to sell him and have insisted on several occasions that they were not ready to part ways with any of their players as they prepare to play Champions League football next season.

Die Werkself have been able to convince their manager, Xabi Alonso, to remain with the club for another season and will be keen to keep some of their key players as well.
