Ochowechi denies FC Ifeanyiubah win in Port Harcourt

By Daily Sports on March 5, 2018

Ochowechi Salefu scored a beautiful goal five minutes from time as hosts Rivers United held FC Ifeanyiubah 1-1 in a dramatic Matchday 11 contest in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

United went behind after the hour mark after goalkeeper Sunday Rotimi was dismissed for a needless lunge on FC Ifeanyiubah striker Pascal Seka. Onyekachi Victor Chidume expertly converting the spot kick beyond substitute goalkeeper Robert Cole.

The visitors were also reduced to ten men ten minutes from time when midfielder Sadiq Abdulrazak was dismissed after receiving a second caution for a foul. Ochowechi took full advantage five minutes later when he rifled home from 18 yards.

Stanley Eguma’s men went into the game in euphoric mood after their first away win of the season; a 1-0 success at Kwara United last Sunday. Eguma made just a change to that set-up, replacing midfielder Christian Weli with winger Bernard Ovoke.

Their visitors who also won last time out; a 1-0 win over Nasarawa United in Nnewi made two changes to their team. Ebuka Nwenyi and Sadiq Abdulrazak were handed starting berths.

Ochowechi restored parity on 85 minutes when he exchanged passes with Chikere before hitting his effort beyond Bamba who was rooted to one spot.

A further five minutes of additional time were not enough to provide a winner in the game as the Anambra Warriors held on for their first away point of the season. (NPFL)
