Amaechi confirms participation in Celebrity Race of Cycling Lagos 2018

The Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi will on August 25 join other leaders and cycling enthusiasts in the Celebrity Race of the highly anticipated Cycling Lagos 2018.

The Children’s edition of the event where  Her Excellency, Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs Bolanle Ambode is expected to present awards to winners  will hold at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Saturday August 18, 2018.

Chairman, Cycling Lagos, Mr. Soji Adeleye who disclosed this in a statement in Lagos said the Minister confirmed his participation in the 2.5km race between Teslim Balogun Stadium and the National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos through his aid onWednesday in Abuja.

“We are excited to receive the news about the participation of the Hon. Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi in the Cycling Lagos’s Celebrity Race, one of the various race categories that include; Corporate Race, Professional Race, Children/Youth Race, Amateur Race and the Club/Veteran Race,” he said.

Amaechi on June 3, 2018 joined other cyclists on a ride in Abuja to mark the World Bicycle Day declared by the United Nations (UN).

The Cycling Lagos competition which will involve over 1,000 cyclists from within and outside Nigeria has been described by the organiser as one of the biggest sports, tourism and entertainment events in the country and the entire Africa continent in recent time.

Cycling LifeScope ltd, organiser of the event in collaboration with the Lagos State Government on August 10   paraded corporate partners and cyclists in a Mini Tour that took off from Eko Hotels & Suites, Victoria Island, and terminated at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere to demonstrate their readiness for the international cycling event scheduled for August 25.

The Cycling Lagos 2018 is supported by the Lagos Government, Lagos State Cycling Association, Eko Hotels & Suites, DStv, SuperSport, Leadway Assurance Company, Addefort Limited, WorldStage Group, Cool FM, Wazobia FM, Nigeria Info, JAC Motors, Simba Group, TVS and Access Bank.
