Manchester United should stick with Jose Mourinho — Giggs

By Daily Sports on October 5, 2018

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has backed Jose Mourinho, saying he should stay as manager.

Mourinho is under increasing pressure after a dismal run of form continued with Tuesday’s 0-0 home draw against Valencia in the Champions League that saw United booed off.

But Wales manager Giggs, in the Old Trafford crowd for that game, said United needed to keep faith with their boss.

“My stance hasn’t changed,” he told a news conference to announce his squad for his country’s games against Spain and Republic of Ireland.

“United are going through a tough time at the moment, but change now and you will be in the same position in a year or two years, quite possibly.

“I believe he should keep his job. The problem of late has been of forward planning. They should take stock – they are going through a tough time.”

Earlier this week, sources told ESPN FC that United’s owners, the Glazer family, believe Mourinho can still kick-start the team’s season despite growing concerns within the club over the manager’s inability to halt the slump in form.

United’s winless run in front of their own supporters at Old Trafford now dates back to the opening weekend of the Premier League season
