Correa strikes in stoppage time as Lazio hold Milan

Striker Joaquin Correa scored a dramatic stoppage time equaliser for Lazio as they snatched a 1-1 draw against AC Milan at a wet Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

The win kept Lazio in fourth place in Serie A with 23 points, one ahead of their opponents who are fifth. The top four teams qualify for the Champions League next season.

Milan, without striker Gonzalo Higuain who was suspended following his sending-off in the 2-0 defeat to Juventus two weeks ago, went ahead with a Franck Kessie goal in the 78th minute.

Davide Calabria pulled the ball back and the Ivorian’s shot was deflected into the net by Lazio defender Wallace.

Milan held on until deep into added time when in the 94th minute, Cristian Zapata headed a clearance straight at Correa and the Argentine controlled the ball with his thigh before scoring with a low shot on the turn.

After the restart, Lazio coach Simone Inzaghi was sent off for arguing but was only coaxed into leaving the pitchside after a protest lasting several minutes. (ESPN)
