Abia Angels Resume for Second Stanza of the League

By Anthony Obaseki on August 20, 2019

Abia Angels Football Club of Aba have resumed training for the second stanza of the 2019 Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) after the recess that followed the first round games.

“The Angels” as they are fondly called finished the first stanza of the league on a very low note after garnering 3 points from 3 games, with 1 home win and losing 2 straight games on the road to place fourth on the league table of Group D.

The second stanza will commence on August 28, 2019 with Abia Angels hosting the group table toppers Kogi Confluence Queens of Lokoja, with the aim of turning the table after losing the reverse fixture by 2-0 in Lokoja.

Team Coordinator of Abia Angels, Mr Victor Ejiofor, after the club’s training session urged them to be prepared to make sure the club avoid relegation by winning the subsequent games with a aim of topping the table if they can take advantage of the 2 straight home games. In his words, “We are looking forward to a positive second stanza having lost 2 games on the road during the first round. We will not relent to fight it out to get better result during the second round.

“We are looking forward to fortify the team with the injection new players into the team to strengthen and make it formidable for the second stanza of the NWFL.”
