Afobe: Why Messi Is Better Than Ronaldo

By Daily Sports on April 6, 2020

DR Congo international Benik Afobe has explained why Lionel Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo.

FC Barcelona forward Messi and Juventus striker Ronaldo are widely regarded as the two best players of their generation having accumulated a lot of success in the last 15 years.

Afobe, who is on the books of English Championship side Bristol City, says Argentine superstar Messi is better than Portugal captain Ronaldo because of his natural talent.

“Ronaldo or Messi. I prefer Ronaldo but Messi is better. I say Ronaldo because he’s work so hard, and he is a man of stories,” Afobe said on City’s official Twitter page.

“We hear about him being the first person in the training and the last person out, he’s got himself the self-belief that he is the best even before he showed that he is the best. He is done it in Spain, Italy and in the Premier League, he has been around.

“Of God given natural talent, I think Messi is class above everyone. He is just amazing to watch. They are about world-class players and definitely the best two that’s ever lived.”

Afobe was nurtured in English Premier League giants Arsenal FC’s academy, but he never established himself in the first team.

The 27-year-old striker picked former Arsenal forward Robin van Persie as the best player he has ever played with.

“The best player I’ve ever played with is easily Robin van Persie, his movement, his first touches, his vision, his finishing ability which is top class,” he added.

“He is a great guy, he gives me a lot of advice, and he is very humble, and he’s had a successful career.” (African Football)
