Sack Eguaveon Now, Nigerians Chorused • Say He has no Capacity To Lead The team

By Daily Sports Nigeria on March 30, 2022

Nigerians have been reacting from the shock of yesterday’s Qatar World Cup play-off ouster by Ghana’s Black Stars via away goal superiority after Super Eagles forced them to a 1-1 draw at full time.

Fans after long pulsation attributed the low performance of the Eagles to the level of technical and tactical ability of the team’s technical adviser, Austin Eguaveon and therefore called for his immediate sack.

According to Dr. Adeniyi Oluwafrmi, Physical Education lecturer in one of the Universities in Lagos observed that from all indications it is unambiguously clear that, Eguaveon has nothing new to bring to the table of the Super Eagles.

It is also obvious that the team has overwhelmed him and so keeping him a minute longer than necessary is no longer tenable. In short the ex-international has no capacity to continue with the team.

Oluwafrmi added that the game was won and lost from the bench. He stressed that Eagles were lucky to have equalized the game. “it beats one’s imagination to note why Eguaveon could not consolidate a good first result exactly what happened in the last AFCON after spectacular group stage outing, he flopped against half strength Carthage Eagles of Tunisia. It was the same story in Abuja World Cup play-off yesterday which again sent many Nigerian fans into yet another sad mood,”, he restated.

He maintained that it is time for him to go his results have shown that he is not fit for the present job he was saddled with. It is obvious now that Eguaveon cannot give what he does not have.

Another pundit, Lawal Adefuyi dismissed Eguaveon technical and tactical ability and called for his immediate sack. He can safely be described as a carpenter coach let him give way.

“I would have even call for the outright disbandment of the Super Eagles to give the NFF enough leverage to search and employment a sound coach that would restore the dignity of the team which has been badly shattered in recent time. It will need the ingenuity of a sound and well grounded football coach to bring back the confidence of the team,” Adefuyi noted.

Adefuyi insists that Super Eagles team should be declared a failed team and the needed comprehensive rebuilding process of the team. The time he said is now. The naked truth is that Eguaveon has not added any value to the team since he was given the nod to lead the country’s flagship football team on interim basis.

Iyamu Osazuwa blasted Eguaveon’s inability to qualify Eagles for World Cup holding in November in Qatar. There must be way forward.

In short what repeated itself in Abuja yesterday against Black Stars of Ghana  exactly what we saw during our game in round of 16 during the last AFCON against Tunisia’ Carthage Eagles.

“Eguaveon must go. Super Eagles need freshness.  Nigeria needs an imaginative coach that can turn the team around and bring the team to perform optimally. We must leave this vicious circle and move forward. This awful performance by the is has reached an unacceptable stage and therefore, Eguaveon must go,” he restated.

Innocent Igwe’s view was not different from the rest of our respondents. It is no hidden fact that Eguaveon has no new idea of what to do with the team. He has no answer at all.

NFF must start in earnest the process of turn around in the Eagles. The team is empty and we cannot afford to continue this way any longer. It has become a naughty national issue that needed drastic solution without delay.

Igwe asked Nigerians to have hope for a great future for the Super Eagles.
