Adesanya KO one of the greatest ever – Rogan

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 11, 2023

UFC commentator of over two decades Joe Rogan has called Israel Adesanya’s knockout of Alex Pereira at UFC 287 one of the greatest he has ever seen.

Adesanya reclaimed his middleweight title with a brutal KO of his rival in round two of their bout at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida on Sunday.

The pair had previously fought three times, twice in their kickboxing careers and once in MMA, with Pereira winning on every occasion but this time the Nigerian-born fighter got his revenge on the Brazilian.

After taking a beating up against the cage, Adesanya landed two huge counter right hands that left Pereira sprawled on the canvas.

Rogan who has witnessed many knockouts during his time in the UFC which started in 2002 said; “That is one of the greatest knockouts I have ever seen in my life.

“What a knockout, what a way to regain your championship in a series where you are behind. Izzy has shot the lights out of Alex Pereira.”

In his post-fight interview, Adesanya said, “I told him before, ‘Thank you for all that you’ve done. Thank you for beating me because (by) beating me he made me a better fighter, a better person.’

“In this camp, I didn’t f**k around. If you know me, you know I like a vacation but I didn’t f**k around, I stayed on the grind. I get tired so that when I get in here, I don’t get tired.”

The only man that could be more pleased with the result than Adesanya himself, was rapper Drake who won a huge bet on the fight. Drake wagered £402,544 (N228m) on Adesanya to win, plus another £322,000 (N183m) on a KO victory, meaning he walked away with £2.a (N1.24bn) in winnings.
