Joshua accused of failing drug test

By Daily Sports Nigeria on April 17, 2023

Former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been accused of using performance-enhancing drugs by boxing rival Jarrell Miller.

The British-Nigerian was previously scheduled to face Miller instead of Jermaine Franklin at the 02 Arena on April 1 in London, but Miller failed his drug test and Joshua went on to beat Franklin by unanimous decision.

Miller then went on to accuse Joshua of PED usage saying that he decided to delay his ring return till December so he can pass the test by the end of the year.

“So, some people are saying that Joshua failed a drug test in his last fight. And that’s why he’s not going to fight in the summertime. He’s gonna fight at the end of the year. Making sense to y’all now? This is what I’m hearing, from multiple sources,” Miller said.

Another United States heavyweight Christopher Lovejoy has questioned Joshua’s validity. This is despite the former two-time world champion being cleared by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency.

However, the claim that Joshua cheated has already been debunked by VADA, who moved to back the 33-year-old up.

“Congratulations to Jermaine Franklin and Anthony Joshua for successfully completing Vada Testing through their April 1, 2023 bout,” they said.

Joshua has been a clean athlete his entire career and there has never been an accusation before now that he was involved in drugs use.
