Coal City half marathon debuts in October

By Daily Sports on August 14, 2016

Enugu Half Marathon also dubbed the Coal City Half Marathon has been scheduled to hold its maiden edition in October 2016. It will be the first half marathon event to be held in the state.

The event, organised by Zipp Sports Ltd, is expected to attract over 3,000 athletes and thousands more spectators from across the state and the entire country.

The people of Enugu State have arguably not been presented with any sporting event in the form of a carnival. This obviously is an untapped avenue as Enugu indigenes have shown a keen interest in sport – especially track events.

The Head of Publicity for the Coal City Half Marathon, Nnaweudo Ani, said: “This is the first of its kind in Nigeria, It is a marathon event designed to be held annually in our state and will be used to promote health, youth engagement, tourism and sports.”

With popular musicians slated to perform, it’s definitely going to be a memorable sporting event. Registration starts September 2016 with free race kits for the first 3,000 people to register.

Also, the Head of Sponsorships for the Coal City Half Marathon, Mr. Ikenna Udoji stated that “with companies such as Enel Lotto already signing up for Sponsorships, this chance will provide organisations with the opportunity to penetrate the South Eastern market as well as the tourism industry, while also giving back to the society in a philanthropic drive. Potential sponsors are invited to contact Zipp Sports Ltd for more information.”
