Relegated Heartland pip Abia Warriors

Ikedinachi Nwakanma's first-half goal earned relegated Heartland victory over NPFL side Abia Warriors in Owerri on Tuesday.

Nwakanma hit target in the 44th minute and that proved to be the difference between the two teams at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri.

Coach Abdullahi Biffo praised ‘The Naze Warriors’, lamenting that the League will miss the flavour of Heartland as the NPFL resumes this weekend.

"It’s unfortunate that this great team will not be in the NPFL this season, but I am sure that the hunger shown by these lads will help them return to the top league," he said.

Heartland coach Emmanuel Deutcsh said Abia Warriors were a good test for his new team.

"Biffo and his team gave us a tough test and we will be better for this," he said.
