Yakubu eyes England return, may sign for Coventry

English Football League One club Coventry City want to sign Nigerian forward Yakubu Aiyegbeni.
According to Coventry City manager Russell Slade, the former Everton and Portsmouth man has been training with the club and has “made a big impression.”

The 34-year-old Nigerian will have to prove his fitness levels with The Sky Blues to earn himself a short-term contract until the end of this season.

“He’s going to spend some time with us and we’ll see how he gets on. He’s made a big impression, he’s a nice fella and he’s been welcomed by the team.

“He’s been away in Turkey, that was his last football club. He’s back over in England now and wants to get back playing as quickly as he can,” Slade has been quoted by SkySports as saying.

Yakubu made 252 English Premier League appearances for Blackburn, Everton, Portsmouth and Middlesbrough, scoring 95 goals while providing 26 assists.
