Title-chasing MFM FC tackle Plateau United (PLUS: Other NPFL Matchday 14 fixtures)

By Daily Sports on March 19, 2017

The Olukoya Boys have the chance to close the gap between themselves and the Peace Boys when the two sides lock horns on Matchday 14

MFM FC Vs Plateau United

It has been a great season for these two sides, separated with four points in the Nigeria Professional Football League table.

MFM FC and Plateau United have sent shock waves across the country with their entertaining brand of football, they are placed third and first respectively.

The Olukoya Boys have already hit the ground running and they seem to be in the right frame of mind if their latest results are anything to go by.

Victory by the Peace Boys in their game against Kano Pillars put the Kennedy Boboye-led side in great mood ahead of the game and when the Week 14 game kicks off this weekend, it will be a do-or-die affair for them as they seek to pull away from the chasing park.

ABS  FC Vs Enyimba

One of the fixtures that would draw much attention of soccer fans is the clash between ABS FC and Enyimba. The match is billed for Sunday at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin on Sunday.

Undoubtedly, ABS are in pole position to pick the maximum points following their impressive performance in the season so far.

Henry Makinwa’s charges have collected 20 points (six wins and two draws) and have recorded hundred percent record at home, putting them fifth on the ladder.

It's also a must-win for Enyimba, who haven’t been convincing in their last five games.

The prospect of brothers, Adeshina Gata and Ismaila Gata coming up against each other also makes for a good narrative ahead of the tie in Ilorin.

Kano Pillars Vs Gombe United

Kano Pillars look to return to winning ways when they host Gombe United in a Northern Derby at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

The former league champions saw their unbeaten streak cut short when they were beaten 2-0 by Plateau United last weekend. And Sai Masu Gida are fourth after 12 games.

The Savannah Scorpions are poor travellers, having failed to pick up a point on the road so far this season. They are 13th with 15 points from 13 matches.

For the records, Pillars and the Savannah Scorpions have met on 16 occasions and the Masu Gida have eight wins compared to six for Gombe United, while two matches have been drawn. The two teams have never registered a goalless draw in any of their last four league clashes.

FC IfeanyiUbah Vs El Kanemi Warriors

El Kanemi Warriors are in Nnewi for a pulsating encounter against FC IfeanyiUbah.

IfeanyiUbah will definitely be gunning for maximum points from the match. They are currently struggling in the league and will also need to win the match to be sure of improving their fortunes.

The Desert Warriors currently have 24 points from 13 matches.

The reverse fixture in Nnewi last term ended in a 1-0 victory for the Anambra Warriors.

Shooting Stars Vs Abia Warriors

The attention of football faithfuls will shift to the ancient city of Ibadan, as strugglers Shooting Stars confront Abia Warriors at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

Shooting Stars, on 12 points, haven’t been impressive in their home matches and any blip will prove disastrous, as highlighted by their position in the standings.

The Oluyole Warriors will have no excuse if they fail to get the result they need in front of their supportive fans.

The Ucendu Babes on their part, have recorded two wins, one draw and two defeats in five consecutive outings. A win would see them rise as high as fourth, depending on results from other match centers.

Wikki Tourist Vs Kastina United

Wikki Tourist host Katsina United at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium on Sunday.

The Bauchi Elephants have had a poor season and are relying on the firepower of Shammah Tanze to achieve their objective on matchday. They are currently rooted to the foot of the table.

The hosts will be facing a Katsina United, whose away form is far from encouraging. The Chanji Boys have their home form to thank, their near-excellent record in front of their fans has helped them to 12th in the topflight.

Lobi Stars Vs Nasarawa United

Lobi Stars are counting on their home form as they confront Nasarawa United in a crucial game at the Aper Aku Stadium.

The Pride of Benue lost 2-1 to Abia Warriors in Week 13 but are expected to be more desperate of the sides as any result other than a win could be a setback to their title hopes.

Nasarawa United are not overly convincing and are counting on their recent 2-0 victory over IfeanyiUbah as an inspiration for them in Makurdi.

Kabir Dogo’s Solid Miners are expected to pose a serious challenge for the Pride of Benue who haven’t lost at home in this campaign.

Niger Tornadoes Vs Akwa United

Vastly-improved Akwa United hope to silence the Lokoja fans when they lock horns with Niger Tornadoes.

The Ikon Allah Boys are currently placed 10th on the log with 18 points from 13 matches, one point behind 6th placed Promise Keepers.

Confluence Stadium will play host to one of the improved side in the Nigerian topflight as Abdu Maikaba and his charges hopes to continue their juggernaut. (Goal.com)
