Super Eagles’ camp opens in London today

By Daily Sports on March 20, 2017

Some members of the Super Eagles’ home-based contingent for the international friendly matches against Senegal and Burkina Faso were expected to depart for London yesterday, officials of the team have disclosed. The remaining members of the team will travel on Wednesday for the matches billed to hold at the Hive Stadium home of Barnet FC.

An NFF official, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the Europe-based players would arrive at the team’s Crowne Plaza Hotel Ealing and take part in the first training session this evening.

According to the source, in the first batch are assistant coaches and administrative staff, excluding Enugu Rangers’ Coach, Imama Amapakabo, who will likely join the team on Wednesday.

Amakapabo’s Enugu Rangers hosted Egyptian club, Zamalek in a CAF Champions League game yesterday, meaning that the coach will only join the rest of the squad after that assignment.

The Super Eagles will take on Senegal on Thursday and clash with Burkina Faso on March 27, 2017.

The source also disclosed that England-based players, including goalkeeper Carl Ikeme and injured Victor Moses will arrived in the camp today for the doctors to ascertain their health status.

Meanwhile, Portugal-based Oghenekaro Etebo is worried that he might miss the games following his inability to secure British visa.

Reports say that Etebo had to travel to Madrid to seek for the visa, but up till the weekend he had not been issued the document.

He is hoping to get the visa today in order to join the rest of the team in their first training session this evening. (The Guardian)
