Lagos Commissioner harps on importance of sports in school curriculum

By Daily Sports on April 5, 2017

The Lagos State Acting Commissioner of Transportation, Prince Olanrewaju Elegushi, has described sports as an essential part of schools’ activities designed to cater for the physical well-being of students which also inculcates the essence of competition in them.

Prince Elegushi, who stated this while speaking at the Annual Inter-House Sports competition organised by Caleb British International School in Lagos held over the weekend, said sports unleash latent talents in children and a veritable training platform for a successful career in life.

According to him, “The hunting for and discovery of valuable talent are the essence of the sports competition within the school system. Most athletes today are potentially rich when they come full circle on the international scene and it is also the singular activity that unites and binds people of different nationality and language.

Elegushi, therefore, urged those in attendance, especially parents and guardians, to give necessary support, encouragement and guardians to their wards, while calling on the participants to imbibe the spirit of sportsmanship.
