Coach Gbenga Ogunbote is very close to replacing Sylvanus Okpala at NPFL side Enugu Rangers, according to SCORENigeria.
Ogunbote was in charge at Enyimba last term, leading ‘The People’s Elephant’ to a third-place finish in the premier league which has guaranteed them a spot on the CAF Confederation Cup campaign next year.
According to the online medium, the former Shooting Stars, Gateway United, FC Giwa and Sunshine Stars coach is currently in Enugu holding talks with officials of Enugu State Government, financiers of the club.
“I’m in Enugu at the moment. We are still holding talks but that is almost concluded”, Ogunbote, who had previously had managerial spell at Sharks of Port Harcourt told Scorenigeria.com.ng Thursday evening.
Okpala was given a two-month short term contract at his former club Rangers, following the sacking of the executive board of the club as well as the technical crew at the close of last season.
His two-month short term contract runs out at the end of this month and it is not yet known what the government will do with him following the impending arrival of Ogunbote.
