Former Super Eagles midfielder Emeka Ezeugo on Tuesday hailed the appointment of former Super Eagles Nwankwo Kanu as the head of Abia State-owned football club Enyimba FC of Aba.

Writing on his Social Media Ezeugo said he doubts if Kanu will be a successful administrator because of limited management skills and selfishness.

He also alleged that the former administrator of Enyimba Felix Anyansi did more harm to Enyimba FC than good.

Without showing evidence, Ezeugo accessed Anyansi and past Governors of Abia of looting the club.

Wrote Ezeugo on Kanu’s appointment, “ Great move that will benefit Nigeria’s biggest football club, Enyimba F. C. of Aba provided that he's surrounded with sports management professionals that will be paid highly but based on their individual successes within Enyimba FC. Kanu should bring these men himself but I know Kanu. This great appointment is entirely about him. He has the opportunity to make Enyimba the World Club Cup Champions but his focus is on himself, enriching himself. “The state of Abia is still more than three decades ignorant of what Enyimba means to the great State of Abia and Nigeria just like Nigeria will die ignorant of what football means to Nigerians plus the fact that it's our country's favorite pastime.”

Ezeugo said “I have zero excitement from my city, land of my birth, my team, the only Nigerian team that I supported with more than my life when they were still in the third division. Enyimba should be the biggest football club in Africa and the most prosperous football club in the continent as well.”

He posits that Kanu will take Enyimba nowhere. “His interest will always come first. He has zero sports management expertise. “

Ezeugo rated Felix Anyansi as even worse. “People will wonder why I said that Anyansi was even worse. We've had Late Stephen Keshi, Samson Siasia, Austin Eguavon, Sunday Oliseh, etc who surrounded themselves with their foreign friends in their coaching positions and the reason for their not being able to change the trajectory of Nigerian football was their self-centered dispositions. “This is entirely a sports management position and Kanu is expected to blow our minds way beyond the way he blew the minds of Gunners back in his playing days at Arsenal.

“Almost one hundred percent of Nigerians are ignorant of how Enyimba won two Champions League trophies. Orji Uzor Kalu via Issa Hayatou (Cameroun's CAF President) handed those two trophies to Enyimba. Expect no further revelation.

“ What happened more than 20 years later? Did Enyimba get to the quarter-final or semi-final stages of the CAF Champions League?

“You can't win two straight CAF Champions League trophies and immediately lose the zeal to go for more trophies/success? Naked minds will never ask such questions.

“The issue here is Kanu. He will not outperform Anyansi but that is expected of him. 99.99% of Nigerians are ignorant of the fact that referees are paid 2.5 million Naira to assist the paying team to win a match about ten years ago and it was a cultural phenomenon. Kanu will have to deal with this. I mean outperform them in their deceitful exercise. Kanu has a great tool to do way better than Anyansi, get the best players in Africa that can be sold to Arsenal and other European Clubs and the money

will go into the bank balances of Enyimba instead of Anyansi, Kanu, or the Abia State Governors that blanketed Anyansi for decades. This has been the trajectory of Enyimba's stories for about 30 years

Ezeugo claimed only ignoramus will question why Anyansi was removed. “No club in Africa has sold more players than Enyimba, not even Al Ahly. Feel free to verify. But Enyimba has zero kobo in their account, in fact, Enyimba has no bank account. Anyansi and his cronies stole the hundreds of millions of dollars that we are talking about, yes; they're all in their private bank balances. And ignorant Nigerians are questioning why he was removed from his position. Football has long migrated to business and abandoned focusing on the entertainment angle solely. Here's the area that Kanu should excel but he's certainly not the right person for the job.

“If he can put the interest of Enyimba above his personal interests and appoint well-educated folks with sports management expertise to assist him, he will do very well. But I know where his focus is. Kanu is a great decoration for Enyimba, no question.”
